A breathtaking VR experience for Meta Quest that transports users to pivotal moments in history, starting with 7th century Makkah, with future episodes exploring other historic periods.
Fragments of Time VR is an innovative virtual reality experience that transports users back to 7th century Makkah, offering an unprecedented glimpse into this pivotal period of history. As the lead developer and project manager, I guided a talented team in creating this groundbreaking experience that seamlessly blends high-fidelity 180° VR video with interactive elements.
Using Unreal Engine 5, we developed a unique approach that combines pre-rendered 8K VR footage with real-time interactive elements. The experience features an AI-powered guide (LifeSpark system) and an interactive 2D map, creating an immersive illusion of freely exploring ancient Makkah. This technical innovation allows us to deliver cinematically beautiful visuals while maintaining the interactive nature of VR.
The project was developed by MetaCampus Tech LTD, with sponsorship from E-Corn LLC, drawing inspiration from Everstar Studio's vision. Our small but dedicated team of five core members, including 3D artists and Unreal Engine developers, completed this ambitious project in just two months, from February to March.
